Paul was a tent maker, though there is not much mention of his trade or business affairs. He may have had a large tent making business, or just worked with his hands daily himself. What we do see in his life is an example that God sets forth in him. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-9 "We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow."
The Lord shows us in Paul's life that we can be powerful people of God, work a trade, and give ourselves fully to His calling. We also see the humility of Jesus in Paul that should encourage us to humble ourselves to be servants.
Mark 10:43-44 "Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all."
May we learn to be servant leaders after the pattern of Jesus, especially in the marketplace where we work.
